ABOUT  The Outback Regional Gallery aims to enrich the cultural life of the Winton community by presenting quality exhibitions from diverse sources, while promoting exhibition opportunities for  local and regional artists. The 2014 exhibitions program includes the popular John Villiers Waltzing Matilda Outback Art Show in May, the BHP Billiton Cannington Waltzing Matilda Photographic Competition in September and featured local artists throughout the year.
The Outback Regional Gallery was officially opened in 1998. The Gallery is the only one in central western Queensland purpose built to enable it to display works from State and National institutions. Visitors can view the 1959 Daphne Mayo sculpture, The Jolly Swagman, immortalising the iconic swaggie of outback legend, in the foyer of the Gallery. Sculptures in Elderslie Street commemorate the legend of our national song Waltzing, written by Banjo Patterson in the Winton area in 1895.
